Setting Up Your SpeedGate Email

Depending on the type of connection you have, you will need to use different servers for sending and receiving email (shown in the table below).

Connection Type Incoming (POP3) Mail Server Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server
Dial-Up mail.speed.net dialup-smtp.speed.net
DSL/Dedicated mail.speed.net mail.speed.net
Non-SpeedGate (yourname@speed.net) mail.speed.net mail.speed.net*
Non-SpeedGate (yourname@yourdomain.com) mail.speed.net (optional)**

If you connect to mail.speed.net, we recommend enabling secure connections for both incoming and outgoing mail -- especially if you connect to public access points such as wireless hotspots. We support both STARTTLS (sometimes labeled as just TLS) and SSL methods. See email security settings for more information.

* We used to recommend using your Internet provider's mail server. Due to email forgeries we have published a list of servers that are used to send legitimate mail with a speed.net address. Please see our page on outgoing mail for more information.

** Generally, you should use the outgoing mail server of your Internet provider. However, you may wish to use mail.speed.net for outgoing mail under certain circumstances. Please see our page on outgoing mail for more information.
