Connecting to SpeedGate with Windows Me: Manual Configuration
- You should have been provided with an access number for your area. If you do not have one, and are reading this online, you can look up an access number here on our website.
- Go to the Start Menu, then look under Settings for Dialup Networking. Duuble-click on Make New Connection.

- Enter the area code, phone number, and country of the access number for your area (see Step 1).
Click Next.

- Click Finish.

- Click once on your new connection with the right mouse button, and select "Properties."

- If the access number is in a different area code than you are, make sure that "Use area code Dialing Properties" is checked. Then click on the Security tab.

- Enter your username followed by @speed.net, then enter your password. If you leave the password blank, it will ask every time you connect. You may want to check "Connect Automatically". Make sure that "Log on to network" and "Require encrypted password" are unchecked. Click on OK to save your changes.
Note: If you have a SpeedGate (yourname@speed.net) email address, it will be the same as your email address. If you have a shell account (yourname@sa.speed.net) or a mail exchange (yourname@yourdomain.com), you should still enter yourname@speed.net here.

You are now ready to connect to the Internet! Simply double-click on the Speedgate connection you created in Dial-Up Networking whenever you want to connect. You can also drag the icon to the desktop or to the toolbar.
