Connecting to SpeedGate with Windows 98: Manual Configuration

  1. You should have been provided with an access number for your area. If you do not have one, and are reading this online, you can look up an access number here on our website.
  2. On your desktop, double-click on My Computer, then double-click on Dialup Networking. Double-click on Make New Connection.

  7. Enter your username followed by @speed.net, then enter your password. You can check "Save password" if you do not want it to ask every time you connect. Click on Connect to dial in immediately, and to save your settings (it will forget your username and password if you click on Cancel).

Note: If you have a SpeedGate (yourname@speed.net) email address, it will be the same as your email address. If you have a shell account (yourname@sa.speed.net) or a mail exchange (yourname@yourdomain.com), you should still enter yourname@speed.net here.

You are now connected to the Internet! Simply double-click on the Speedgate connection you created in Dial-Up Networking whenever you want to connect. You can also drag the icon to the desktop or to the toolbar.
