Updating Your Dial-Up Settings:
Windows 95 or Windows 98

  1. Look up a new access number here on our website, then disconnect from the Internet.
  2. From your desktop, double-click on My Computer.

  3. Double-click on Dial Up Networking. You should see your SpeedGate connection (you may have given it a different name, like "Internet Connection"). Select it, then click on it with the right mouse button and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

  4. Replace the old phone number with the new number you looked up. (The number in the example is in Laguna Beach - unless you live there, you will probably want a more local number.) Click on OK to save the settings.

  5. Double-click on the dial-up connection.

  6. Before you click on Connect, make sure your user name ends in "@speed.net" (i.e. bob@speed.net, not just bob).

  7. Click on Connect to connect to the Internet and save your changes. If you click on Cancel, your changes will not be saved.
  8. If necessary, update the settings on your e-mail program.

You are now ready to connect using your new settings!
