Updating Your Dial-Up Settings:
Macintosh (FreePPP)

These directions use FreePPP as an example. If you use a different dial-up package, the steps will not be identical, but they will be similar.

  1. Look up a new access number here on our website, then disconnect from the Internet.
  2. Open the FreePPP Setup program. If you do not know where it is, you can use Sherlock to search for files with "ppp" in their names.
  3. Click on the Accounts tab and select your SpeedGate connection (you may have given it a different name, like "Internet Connection"). Click on Edit.

    [FreePPP Accounts]

  4. You should see the Account tab. Make sure your user name ends in "@speed.net" (i.e. bob@speed.net, not just bob).

[FreePPP - Edit Account (Account tab)]

  5. Click on the Dialup tab. Replace the old phone number with the new number you looked up. Make sure that the area code settings are correct for your location (for instance, if you are on the edge of the 714 area and a 949 number is closest, be sure that Dial area code is checked). You can add additional phone numbers if you want. Click on OK to save your settings.

  6. If necessary, update the settings on your e-mail program.

You are now ready to connect using your new settings!
