Updating Your Dial-Up Settings:
Macintosh (Apple Internet Dialer)

These directions use the Apple Internet Dialer. If you use a different dial-up package, the steps will not be identical, but they will be similar.

  1. Look up a new access number here on our website, then disconnect from the Internet.
  2. Open the Apple Internet Dialer. If you do not know where it is, you can use Sherlock to search for files with "dialer" in their names.

  3. Go to the Provider menu and select Modify current provider... Click on Next.

  4. On the Account Information card, make sure your user name ends in "@speed.net" (i.e. bob@speed.net, not just bob). Replace the old phone number with the new number you looked up. Click on Next.

  5. On the Server Information card, if you have anything listed for the SMTP Server or POP Server, they should show the SMTP Server as dialup-smtp.speed.net and the POP Server as dialup-pop.speed.net. Click on Save to save your changes.

  6. If you changed email settings, but your email program does not use the Apple Internet Dialer's settings for servers, update the settings on your e-mail program.

You are now ready to connect using your new settings!
