SpeedDSL Home is SpeedGate's Internet connectivity service for residential access. With SpeedDSL you get a high-speed, secure, and dedicated Internet connection with the reliability, quality, and support from SpeedGate Communications. Unlike other providers of home DSL, SpeedGate focuses primarily on business class DSL. This means that you can expect the same quality of service for our home DSL connections that we provide our business customers.

With two different bandwidth speeds to choose from, SpeedDSL Home Service will provide you with a dedicated, "always on" Internet connection.

System Requirements

SpeedGate offers two types of modems. One connects to your computer's USB port, and the other connects to an ethernet port. As of this writing, the modem manufacturer only supplies USB drivers for Windows 98 and later. The ethernet version can be used with any operating system including Macintosh, Linux, and other versions of Windows.

To authenticate your connection, we use PPP over Ethernet, or PPPoE. We will provide you with an install CD for Windows. Macintosh OS X includes built-in support for PPPoE and does not require additional software. For Linux, BSD and other Unix variants, we recommend Roaring Penguin's PPPoE Client software.

Since the DSL modem connects directly to your computer, if you have a home network, you will need to choose a computer and have it share the Internet connection with the rest of the network.
